Bread for Beginners with Chris Payne

Are you bready to rise to the challenge of learning the delicious art of bread-making? Our expert tutor Chris will make sure you leave his first class of 2024 with all you knead to know about this most wonderful skill. Spending a cold January day in the warmth of our bespoke kitchen baking bread: winter doesn’t get better than this! Students will be making a tin loaf, shaped rolls, flatbreads and an enriched bacon and cheddar loaf: and taking them all home to share!

You’ll be given expert tuition and recipe sheets with step-by-step instructions as you cook at your own work station on a central aisle. Once the hard work is over, it’s The Assembly House team’s turn to serve you afternoon tea, as you relax and reflect with your fellow students over a glass – or two - of wine.

Course dates are often repeated, so even if you can’t make a specific date, it’s always worth calling us or checking the website to see if we’re staging a re-run!

Students arrive at 9.30am and after a short introduction, head into the kitchen. After the hands-on class, one of The Assembly House's famous afternoon teas follows and your day ends at 3pm when you can collect the goodies you’ve made and head off home to take credit for your fabulous work!
